Snohomish County Medical Society Residency Scholarship & Community Grant
Applications Open January 1, 2026
The Snohomish County Medical Society (SCMS) Board of Trustees is proud to announce a scholarship and community project grant opportunity for medical residents living or training in Snohomish County. This initiative is designed to support and encourage resident physicians who are passionate about community health and engagement.
SCMS will award up to $2,500 to a selected resident to support the development and implementation of a community-focused health project.
Past recipient – Dr. Kirstin Hansen of Sea Mar CHC for her Walk with a Doc Community Project.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a resident physician in good standing within their training program.
- Must be a current resident member of SCMS.
Application Components
Applicants must submit an essay that addresses the following:
- Why did you choose to become a physician?
- Describe your proposed community project and how it aligns with one or more of the grant focus areas listed below.
Residency Community Project Grant Focus Areas – 2026
Projects should aim to impact one or more of the following areas:
- Improve community health literacy and promote patient advocacy
- Expand the use of telemedicine in local medical practices
- Encourage physician engagement in Accountable Communities of Health
- Tackle public health priorities at the community level
- Strengthen the doctor–patient relationship in care delivery
- Identify opportunities and needs for charitable health care
- Address health care access for non-citizen populations
