History and Membership of the SCMS
The Snohomish County Medical Society (SCMS), founded in 1940, is a professional association of physicians throughout Snohomish County who are dedicated to addressing local health issues of concern to their patients and their profession. We are a subsidiary of the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) and are affiliated with the American Medical Association (AMA). Through the Snohomish County Medical Society physician members can collectively address the health needs of our community. Nearly 225 physician members support the services made available to the Snohomish County area.
The Mission of the Snohomish County Medical Society is:

- To advocate for the profession
- To participate in and support the Washington State Medical Association
- To foster collegiality
- To improve access to quality health care
